VARIOUS CARPETS, WAVES, AND SMALL GRAY mothS
Brown-shaded Carpet. I have seen a few individuals in the month of April.
Unadorned Carpet moth. I have found this species at my lights every month from May through October.

Drab Brown Wave. This tiny little moth, with a rather sad name, was photographed at Huffman Prairie on August 6, 2016.
Gray Spring Moth. This species is very common in April and early May.
Rippled Wave Moth, photographed on July 23, 2022, in Adams County, Ohio. This moth is usually found further to our south. We are near the northern edge of its range.
Another Soft-lined Wave, photographed September 4, 2022. Note that this moth looks somewhat similar to the "no lace" form of the Large Lace Border. Soft-lined Waves are usually smaller, and they have smoothly-rounded hindwings.
Another Gray Spring Moth. These moths are regular visitors to my UV lights in the spring months, and I have also seen them while hiking during the day at Sugarcreek MetroPark and Germantown MetroPark.

Soft-lined Wave, photographed July 31, 2021, near the Great Miami River at Middletown.
Pale Metanema. I have found several of these moths at my UV lights from April through August.
Unadorned Carpet moths are very common visitors to my UV lights, and I think they are lovely moths, despite the name!
